🕋 How to Perform Umrah – Barakah Travels

Step by Step Guide by Barakah Travels

Performing Umrah is a great spiritual journey for every Muslim. Below is a simple and complete guide to help you understand and perform Umrah correctly, with authentic duas and Arabic text.

✈️ 1. Preparation Before Departure

Make niyyah (intention) to perform Umrah only for the sake of Allah.
Trim nails, remove unwanted hair, and take a full-body bath (ghusl).
Wear the Ihram (2 white unstitched cloths for men; modest clothing for women).
Offer 2 rakats Nafl Salah before entering into Ihram (optional but recommended).
After wearing Ihram, recite:

نِيَّةُ العُمْرَة
“Labbayka ‘Umrah”
(O Allah, I intend to perform Umrah, so make it easy for me and accept it from me.)

🕋 2. Enter into Ihram and Recite Talbiyah

Once you make the niyyah and wear the Ihram (usually at Miqat):

تَلْبِيَة
لَبَّيْكَ اللّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالمُلْكَ، لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ
“Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise, grace and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner.”

Say this frequently until you reach the Haram.

🕌 3. Entering Masjid Al-Haram

Enter with your right foot and recite:

اللّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
“O Allah, open the gates of Your mercy for me.”

🔁 4. Tawaf (Circling the Kaaba 7 times)

Begin at Hajr-e-Aswad (Black Stone), face it and say:

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ
(Bismillah, Allahu Akbar)

Kiss it if possible, otherwise raise your hand towards it each time you pass.
Circle the Kaaba 7 times in anti-clockwise direction.
Men should perform Raml (brisk walk) in the first 3 rounds.
Recite any Dua or Dhikr between each corner. Example:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
(Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina ‘adhaban-naar)
[Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201]
“Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment of the Fire.”

🕯️ 5. Pray 2 Rakats behind Maqam-e-Ibrahim

After completing 7 rounds:

وَاتَّخِذُوا مِن مَّقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى
(And take the station of Ibrahim as a place of prayer) — [Surah Al-Baqarah 2:125]

Pray 2 rakats near or far behind Maqam-e-Ibrahim (stone of Prophet Ibrahim).

💧 6. Drink Zamzam Water

Drink Zamzam water with intention and supplication. Example:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا وَاسِعًا، وَشِفَاءً مِن كُلِّ دَاءٍ
“O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision, and healing from every disease.”

🏃‍♂️ 7. Sa’i between Safa and Marwah

Go to Safa, face the Kaaba and recite:

إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِن شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ
(Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah) – [Surah Al-Baqarah 2:158]

Then say:

أَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللَّهُ بِهِ
(I begin with what Allah began with.)

Walk briskly between green lights (men only).
Complete 7 rounds, starting at Safa and ending at Marwah.
You can recite any dhikr or du’a during Sa’i.

✂️ 8. Halq or Taqsir (Hair Cutting)

Men: Shave entire head (Halq) or trim (Taqsir).
Women: Trim hair about 1 inch.

After this step, Umrah is complete, and you can change out of Ihram.

📿 Common Duas (Optional to Recite Any Time)

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ
Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar
(Glory be to Allah, All Praise to Allah, None has the right to be worshiped but Allah, Allah is the Greatest)
